Types of child maltreatment, child welfare involvement, and service provision among trauma-impacted children of opioid using mothers

Opioid use disorder (OUD) is a significant risk factor associated with child maltreatment, and among all reasons for child removal, parental drug abuse demonstrated the largest increase. While the link between OUD and child trauma exposure has been well-established, this study examined the overlap in parent OUD, child welfare involvement, and service provision among children of mothers with OUD, and also compared these outcomes to use of other substances.
